
Dan was the founder and director of the Center for Nonprofit Communication at Drury University. In this role, he organized workshops and conferences, consulted local nonprofit organizations, and wrote and spoke on industry-related topics.
Prater now works at BKD as senior managing consultant for the certified public accounting and advisory firm’s Springfield office in Missouri. Dan will collaborate with other professionals on BKD’s national nonprofit team to help organizations of all sizes enhance their effectiveness and efficiency. This will involve synthesizing data and developing analysis, providing education and delivering consulting services.
He volunteers for several area nonprofit groups, including Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), The Carol Jones Recovery Center for Women, and The United Way of the Ozarks. His passion is to help these organizations achieve their missions.
Dan is the co-chair of Nonprofit Missouri, a statewide organization that promotes the common interests of Missouri’s more than 15,000 nonprofit organizations. He also sits on the advisory board for Isabel’s House – Crisis Nursery of the Ozarks.
